In the Season 6 premiere of Mom, “Pre-Washed Lettuce and a Mime,” it’s Christy’s (Anna Faris) first day of law school. The day starts out great. Christy wakes up saying, “I’m a freaking miracle,” while her mother Bonnie (Allison Janney) makes her pancakes and packs her snacks for school. But after a tough first day in Professor Addison’s class, Christy has second thoughts about law school.

Christy’s law school Professor Addison is portrayed by John Rubinstein. The veteran actor is known for his roles on Dear White People (President Fletcher), This Is Us (Kevin’s stage director Ron Schiller), Desperate Housewives (Principal Hobson), Parenthood (Principal Liam Taylor), The Young and the Restless (Dr. Charles Taylor), Star Trek: Enterprise (Minister Kuvak), Family (Jeff Maitland, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award), among many others. Fun fact: Rubinstein made his TV debut on a 1967 episode of Dragnet 1967 with Jack Webb and Harry Morgan. Mom airs Thursdays at 9pm on CBS, right after Young Sheldon and right before the new Murphy Brown.
