There is no other act like Street Drum Corps on America’s Got Talent Season 13. The high energy punk drum band uses drums, refrigerators, washing machines, pipes, you name it, to make their loud explosive sound. And yes, there is a demand for that sound. Street Drum Corps tours year-round, mostly performing at county and state fairs and music festivals in the U.S. But this isn’t there first time in front of a big crowd. In 2010, they performed as a musical guest on American Idol. And they just won the first season of MTV’s Amazingness — a talent show featuring eclectic young people and starring Ridiculousness host Rob Dyrdek.

But one of their most memorable performances was at Guantanamo Bay. Yes, the U.S. naval base in Cuba that’s been used to detain alleged terrorists since 2002. In 2014, Street Drum Corps performed in front of a crowd of service members and Naval Station Guantanamo Bay residents at the Tiki Bar. See photo below. (Note: The detainee population has been dramatically reduced since 2002. As of May 2018, there were 40 detainees at Guantanamo Bay.) New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
