On the eighth and final night of qualifiers for Season 2 of World of Dance, junior dance duo Avery and Marcus of Los Angeles get their chance to perform in front of Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough. They perform to the song “Jungle” by Jamie N Commons and X Ambassadors. Avery Gay, 13, and Marcus Sarjeant, 17, have been dancing together for less than two years. Working with BalletRED’s artistic director Josie Walsh, they’ve learned to blend their ballet technique and athleticism on the stage.
When she’s not in the studio or on stage, Avery is designing dance costumes. She has her own line, The Avery Gay Collection, with Second Skin Costumes, the company that made her that killer steampunk costume for her World of Dance qualifiers performance. World of Dance airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC, right after America’s Got Talent.
