At 22, rock star Cade Foehner is the oldest contestant of the Top 7 on American Idol. On the May 6 episode, all 7 singers sing a song from the year they were born (1996 for Cade) and a song from Prince’s prolific catalog. For his 1996 song, Cade took on Jewel’s first number one hit, “Who Will Save Your Soul” from her first album Pieces of You. Jewel was 22 at the time!

For his Prince song, Cade performed the funk pop song “Jungle Love.” Prince wrote it with members of The Time, Morris Day and Jesse Johnson, who often toured with Prince and starred in his movie Purple Rain]. On The Time’s Ice Cream Castle album recording, that’s Day singing and Johnson playing guitar. (Prince produced it.) During the funky bridge in the song, Morris yells out to Jesse “gimme one of them sexy solos right here” and he acquiesces. American Idol fans swooned as Cade delivered a sexy solo, too, as usual! American Idol airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.
