In the Modern Family episode “Daddy Issues,” while Phil (Ty Burrell) goes shopping for the perfect anniversary gift for Claire (Julie Bowen) and Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) argues with her father about wearing a bra, Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) ex-boyfriend Jorge stops by for a visit. Jay (Ed O’Neill) says he’s not a jealous guy but Jorge’s resemblance to Manny (Rico Rodriguez) has Jay wondering if he might be Manny’s real father and not the handsome, fit Javier (Benjamin Bratt).
Jorge is portrayed by Gabriel Iglesias. The stand-up comedian Iglesias is known for incorporating tough and funny stories from his real life (he’s the youngest of 6 kids raised by a single mom in Section 8 housing) into his routines. As an actor, Iglesias is known for his role as Tobias in the Magic Mike movies (with Vergara’s real life husband Joe Manganiello), and as Alberto in the TV series Cristela, among others. Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9pm on ABC, right before American Housewife.
