Christiana Danielle Hicks is the 23-year-old singer from Fort Wayne, Indiana on Season 14 of The Voice. She is one of the three artists remaining on Team Alicia who’ve made it to the Top 12. (The other two artists on Team Alicia are 17-year-old Britton Buchanan and Jackie Foster, lead singer of the alt-rock band Self-Portraits. During The Voice Live Playoffs, Christiana Danielle sang Hozier’s song “Take Me to Church.” After the performance, Kelly Clarkson (who, keep in mind, isn’t Christiana’s coach!) told Christiana “you might be the greatest person on the show.” So all the time Christiana spent rehearsing the song with her coach Alicia Keys paid off!
Christiana told her local newspaper before performing the song that Alicia Keys works as a kind of translator for her when it comes to talking to the band about what Christiana wants to do musically with the song. While Christiana “can’t always explain to the band what she wants them to do in a way they understand,” she sure is learning a lot from Keys! The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
