One of the first battles on The Voice Season 14 features Kelly Clarkson’s 14-year-old singer Brynn Cartelli. For her Blind Audition Brynn sang the Labrinth song “Beneath Your Beautiful” and got both Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton to turn their chairs around. Kelly told Brynn, “I can win with you,” which must have swayed Brynn’s decision. She might only be 14 but as Adam Levine said after her audition, “You sound like a 36-year-old who has been through it.” The teen faces TeamKelly singer Dylan Hartigan, the 21-year-old former child star who Kelly called “a dark horse.” (Clarkson was the only coach to turn around for Dylan after his Blind Audition.)
[Taylor Swift’s Reputation includes “…Ready for It?”]
For their battle on The Voice, they sing the Taylor Swift “…Ready For It,” which is from her most recent album (her sixth) Reputation (see link above). It’s a hybrid of electropop and rap, and the lyrics describe a woman fantasizing about holding a man for ransom, a man who is “younger than my exes”, among other things. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before Good Girls.
