Reports of strife around the Patriots locker room aren’t reflected on the field, as the New England football machine marches on to its own winning drummer as ever. The 13-3 AFC East leading Patriots might find it surprising that there is trouble inside Gillette Stadium. But winning isn’t easy, despite how easy Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have made it seem. The alleged tension revolves around the confusing (divisive?) presence of Brady’s business partner and training guru Alex Guerrero, co-author with Brady of The TB12 Method (see link below). Guerrero’s locker room access has reportedly been curtailed by Belichick, who may see the trainer as a distraction for younger players. And not just because of Guerrero’s relationship with Brady. Famous influential Patriots Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola are also reportedly passengers on the TB12 Method train driven by Guerrero– at least enough to cause young players some anxiety about how they treat their own fitness and medical needs.

ESPN reports: “New players felt the surest way to earn Brady’s trust was to join Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola and others by seeking advice from Guerrero at his TB12 clinic — and not team doctors, which Belichick preferred … But according to multiple sources, players openly discussed with Patriots coaches, staff and trusted advisers whether to follow Brady or the team, leaving them trapped: Do we risk alienating the NFL’s most powerful coach or risk alienating the NFL’s most powerful quarterback?” Then again maybe whatever the Patriots are doing — that tension, if that’s what it is — is just what the team needs. After all, any NFL team would love to have a locker room and a record that was in as much disarray as the Patriots reportedly are.
It is always an honor to be selected to the pro bowl. Congrats to my other teammates and thanks fans!!!
