The new reality series Love After Lockup is about six couples who have meet online while one of them was in prison. All the couples have plans to marry once their partner is released from prison. In the series premiere episode “From Felon to Fiance,” Johnna of Tampa, Florida says when she saw Garrett’s mugshot, she thought “Wow, this guy takes a really hot mugshot.” Now she’s getting ready to marry Garrett. Not everyone in her family is thrilled with the idea. Her father has serious doubts about his daughter marrying a man who was serving a seven-year prison sentence for “burglary, grand theft and several other counts,” according to WEtv. (They’ve been dating for four years while Garrett was in prison. Johnna was able to see him every weekend and on holidays.)
Johnna says her dream wedding is to have her father walk her down the aisle, but her father won’t even meet her fiance Garrett. In one scene, Johnna’s father is so upset he throws his drink on the ground and calls his daughter “crazy.”And now that Garrett is free to come and go as he pleases, Johnna realizes that Garrett is acting differently than when he was in prison. Love After Lockup airs Fridays at 10pm on WEtv.
