HoopMaps is an app designed for recreational basketball players. It lists pickup games so ballers don’t have to waste time playing on an empty court. The twin brothers behind the app, Donte Morris and Dominic Morris, are pitching their business on Shark Tank on November 5. The Sacramento State graduates have the good fortune of pitching HoopMaps in front of the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, and former New York Yankees World Series champion Alex Rodriguez. Once logged in to HoopMaps (which you can do via Facebook), it’ll show you a map of your neighborhood and show you where games are being played, at what time, and how many people are playing. You can join the game or hit share on social media to encourage other ballers to join the game. In March, ESPN media host Michael Smith promoted HoopMaps on ESPN SportsCenter’s “The Six” and said “it might just bring your boy out of retirement.” Smith is a sports reporter not a player but he gives the Morris brothers serious kudos for the app in the clip below. “Bravo fellas. Ball up!” says Smith in his 90-second plug. “Dante and Dominic, congratulations for making the world a better place.” Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9pm and 10pm on ABC.
