In The Mayor episode “The Strike,” the bus drivers’ union in Fort Grey goes on strike. While Mayor Courtney Rose (Brandon Micheal Hall) faces-off with a fierce Transit Union lawyer, his mother Dina (Yvette Nicole Brown) plays hookie from work. Every so often, Dina (who works at the post office) and her two best friends take a sick day together to pamper themselves. Dina’s friends are portrayed by Wendy Raquel Robinson and Diana Maria Riva.
Wendy Raquel Robinson is known for her TV roles as Tasha Mack on The Game and Regina “Piggy” Grier on The Steve Harvey Show, and as Miss California in the 2000 film Miss Congeniality (see above link), among others. Diana Maria Riva is known for her TV roles on Man with a Plan (teacher Mrs. Rodriguez), Telenovela (Mimi), The West Wing (Edie Ortega), Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (Annie), and as Stella in the Mel Gibson, Helen Hunt movie What Women Want, among others. The Mayor airs Tuesdays at 9:30pm on ABC, right after Fresh Off the Boat.
