For it’s 10th anniversary edition, the iPhone 8 is taking on a new name — the iPhone X. (That’s the pre-launch rumor.) X, of course, means 10. But others are talking about X as a stand-in for “exclusive.” The new iPhone, which traditionally as far as iterations go will be the iPhone 8, following the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, is said to be priced in the neighborhood of $1,000. Apple isn’t just launching new tech either, but Tim Cook will inaugurate the Steve Jobs Theater for the September 12 launch , which also will include Apple TV and Apple Watch news.
The Apple launch event is scheduled for 10 am in Cupertino, California time. On PCs or Macs you can view the live event at Apple’s Special Event page, which will do it’s best to also deliver the feel of the new Steve Jobs Theater. Apple TV users and others on iOS devices can download the Apple Event app at iTunes. Similarly the Apple iPhone launch event can be streamed using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 7 by heading to Apple’s Special Event page.
