Colin Cloud is the forensic mind reader competing on America’s Got Talent, Season 12. For his semi-finals performance he upped the ante by involving the entire audience, live at the Dolby Theater. And he put in a lot of hours prior to the performance. His outrageous trick involved asking AGT viewers on Twitter to submit three things: celebrity, city, and object. Thousands were received. Colin had all of the tweets printed on cards. The cards (each were different, there were no duplicates) were distributed to each audience member. Howie Mandel and Simon Cowell were asked to collect handfuls of the cards, randomly, from the audience. When they returned to the judges’ panel, Mel B chose one, and Heidi chose one tweet on that card — Ellen, Rome, Cheese.
Colin’s act goes on to reveal that he’s been working undercover, in disguise (as a sound man, restaurant server, a fan in the audience), basically sending subliminal messages to the judges. For example, as a sound guy, he asks Heidi Klum to talk about going on Ellen, and as a fan he asks Simon to say hi to his friends Ellen and Roman. At the end of the performance, Heidi Klum called him “a sneaky little bugger.” Simon Cowell says, “I got goosebumps on my goosebumps on my goosebumps.” The results of the semifinals will be announced on Wednesday, September 13 at 8pm on NBC. The winner of America’s Got Talent, Season 12 will be announced on Wednesday, September 20 at 8pm.
