Sen. Chuck Schumer — one half the duo Donald Trump recently embraced as “Chuck & Nancy” (that’s Pelosi) — was caught on a hot mic in the Senate chamber explaining what he said to the president and how he got a deal done. “He likes us. He likes me anyway,” Schumer chuckled in a whisper. (Schumer has explained recently that though they have their differences, both he and Trump are New Yorkers and that helps them speak their minds to one another.)
Schumer says: “Here’s what I told him. I said ‘Mr. President, you’re much better off if you can sometimes step left and sometimes step right. If you have to step just in one direction you’re boxed.’ He gets that.”
