Thirty years after the box-office smash Dirty Dancing lit up movie theaters everywhere, an adaptation is coming to NBC. The protagonist is a teenage girl nicknamed Baby (originally played by Jennifer Grey, Abigail Breslin on TV) who vacations with her family in the Catskills, circa 1960. Baby falls for the handsome dance instructor at the hotel, Johnny Castle (originally played by the late Patrick Swayze, Colt Prattes on TV). Baby’s father, Dr. Jake Houseman (originally played by the late Jerry Orbach), does not approve of the relationship.
