Hall of Famer Reggie Miller said on a conference call he thinks the Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg got lucky — a “great draw for Chicago” — in getting the 8th spot just as the Celtics overtook the Cavaliers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. As Miller sees it there are two very good things about the draw for the Bulls: the Celtics don’t have strong recent playoff experience and they aren’t the Cavaliers.
Miller cited the Bulls’ veteran leadership in Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade — two championship caliber guys with rings to prove it. Fellow Hall of Famer and TNT commentator Kevin McHale said during the call he believed the Bulls had a chance to see their disappointing season “resurrected” with a good playoff showing. If the Bulls season ended yesterday, McHale said, it would have been a disappointment. But they’re alive and ready to face a Boston team that, as Miller says, makes you ask “what have they done in the playoffs lately?”
