Mike Conley is one of the good guys of the NBA. The dynamic point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies proved it again by buying 500 tickets for Grizzlies fans to attend Game 3 at the FedExForum this Thursday. The Grizz will need every edge they can muster including a frenzied crowd against a Spurs team that held them to just 82 points in each of the first two games. While Conley has his big fat wallet out, he might want to also pay the fines incurred by his coach David Fizdale. The NBA fined Fizdale after Game 2 for calling the officiating unfair, especially when it came to Conley.
Fizdale said: “We don’t get the respect [from the refs] that these guys deserve, because Mike Conley doesn’t go crazy, he has class, and he just plays the game, but I’m not gonna let them treat us that way.” That cost Fizdale $30,000. It’s money he can afford to pay, especially if it means getting Conley and Zach Randolph to the line in Game 3. But since Conley, who last year signed a contract worth an astonishing $153 million, is in a generous mood and he’s a loyal guy above all, he should probably just take care of Fiz too. The Grizzlies are 2-0 at home this season against the Spurs.
