On Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer travels to Chalmette, Louisiana to help turn around Desi Romano’s Sports Bar & Grill. Taffer walks into the bar and stands behind the owner Desi Romano (who’s had too much to drink at the bar) until he notices Taffer. Actually, a patron at the bar has to tell Desi to turn around. Desi looks genuinely surprised. He keeps telling Taffer “Not tonight, tomorrow.” Taffer insists and replies, “You’re losing money tonight.” Desi orders another beer which pushes Taffer over the edge. “Is the next beer more important than making money?” Desi continues to ask, “Why tonight?”
Desi Romano’s has been in business for 25 years, and business used to be good until Desi — who is/was the face of the place — suffered a stroke and had to take time off. Without Desi in the bar, his daughter Lindsey tried to manage the bar but without much experience. Desi did return to the bar but with a “lackadaisical” attitude that affected the staff. Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 10pm on Spike.
