The second half of Braxton Family Values Season 5 is going to be a juicy one filled with “tabloids, rumors and repercussions.” While Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton gets grilled about the possibility of marrying her boyfriend Birdman, 16 years of pain erupt when papa Michael Braxton Sr. brings his second wife to a family trip in Mexico. (While married to their mother, their father had an affair for nine years.) But that’s not all! Towanda announces that her soon-to-be ex-husband Andre Carter wants full custody of their two children — son Montelus and daughter Brooke.

Towanda married Andre Carter in 2003. Little is known about Andre other than he’s the author of A Profile in Black. It’s an excoriating 436-page book about his experience and more broadly the black American experience — worth a look for his thoughts on Clarence Thomas alone. In 2014, when they were just legally separated, Towanda said Andre was with the kids, “working part-time at AT&T” and “still writing.” His latest book is Fried Fish which is about a lesbian affair. Bossip reported in September that a judge in Georgia issued a mutual restraining order against the exes which means neither parent can take their children out of Georgia while their divorce is being finalized. Braxton Family Values airs Thursdays at 9pm on WEtv.
