Wizards coach Scott Brooks says the reason John Wall is so sturdy is that he just loves basketball. Brooks said of the durable Wall: “He can handle a lot of contact. 6’4, 218 pounds, 220 pounds and it’s all muscle. And he gets up everytime. He loves the game. You can tell the guys that love the game. They just play. They just play every night.”
The statement comes in the wake of the huge NBA controversy that last week saw Steve Kerr sit the four most productive Golden State Warriors against the Spurs, turning a big regular season matchup into a “colossal disappointment.” TV analysts Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson spent most of the game lambasting the NBA for allowing it to happen, saying Kerr’s move “devalues the fans” and “devalues the regular season.” Wall, as Brooks could have told you, agrees. Having his best year ever, Wall echoed Van Gundy and Jackson telling CSNmidatlantic:
“I’m not the type of guy who wants to sit down and rest. I think you owe it to the fans. They paid money to come see us play. That’s how a professional goes out there and competes. If nothing is hurt, you can play go play.
