The 48 Hours episode ‘The Strange Life of Dr. Schwartz’ investigates the murder of Dr. Steven Schwartz, a 74-year-old a wealthy doctor who was brutally murdered in his Florida mansion. Family friend Anton “Leo” Stragaj, who was hired to manage the 38 rental properties owned by Schwartz, was charged with first-degree murder. Stragaj says he was set up by Schwartz’s second wife Rebecca “Becky” Schwartz. (She does not face any charges regarding the murder of her husband.)
Stragaj is not the only one suspicious of Becky Schwartz. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Dr. Steven Schwartz’s brother, James Schwartz, filed suit against her on behalf of the doctor’s three adult children. “The wrongful death lawsuit claims their stepmother and Stragaj conspired to murder Schwartz, whose estate is worth at least $10 million, for financial gain.” The lawsuit also claims that Becky Schwartz was embezzling funds from her husband’s medical practice. Her attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the suit. 48 Hours airs Fridays at 9pm and 10pm on CBS.
