In the Life in Pieces episode ‘Musical Motel Property Bingo’, while some in the Short family suspect matriarch Joan (Dianne Wiest) of having an affair, and Tyler (Niall Cunningham) and Clementine (Hunter King) announce they want to move out, teenager Samantha (Holly J. Barrett) does not score a role in the school musical. Samantha’s mother Heather (Betsy Brandt) can’t believe it so she has a talk with the high school musical director, Mr. Julius Black.
Mr. Black is portrayed by Andy Richter. He is best known as a writer and sidekick on Conan, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Richter is currently host of the new game show on ABC Big Fan, produced by that other late night talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel. Life in Pieces airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on CBS.
