Trump transition team member Myron Ebell is a director at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). Ebell is also, according to reports, the chief architect of the Trump administration’s plans for the EPA. The Republican “climate change contrarian” will hand over the plans to Scott Pruitt for execution, if Pruitt, the Oklahoma Attorney General whom Trump has nominated to lead the EPA, wins Senate confirmation. The plans are currently as public as Mr. Trump’s tax returns, but Ebell is a known quantity and inferences about his plans can be made by visiting the CEI site.
There one learns that Energy and Environment is CEI’s largest program. This is how Ebell’s organization describes its positions on environmental regulations, in brief:
“CEI questions global warming alarmism, makes the case for access to affordable energy, and opposes energy-rationing policies, including the Kyoto Protocol, cap-and-trade legislation, and EPA regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. CEI also opposes all government mandates and subsidies for conventional and alternative energy technologies.”
