In fact, Bill Gates told the Reddit crowd about his bioterrorism concerns almost a year ago in a Reddit AMA. He’s spoken about bioterrorism before, but the Reddit platform is notable because Reddit might just be the opposite of Davos.
Gates didn’t just discuss his terrorism concern on Reddit when he said, “I am concerned about biological tools that could be used by a bioterrorist. However the same tools can be used for good things as well.” He revealed many futuristic Gates Foundation-supported initiatives, like an implant that could prevent HIV contraction. At Davos, Gates was a little more specific about the potential terrorism toll, noting that an “epidemic” is the weapon “most likely” to cause “10,000” or more deaths. The Gates Foundation supports the work of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Initiatives.
