It’s no surprise that Grammy Award-nominated singer Billy Gilman has made it to The Voice Live Finale. Representing Team Adam with country singer Josh Gallagher, Billy Gilman is grateful of “this special journey” on The Voice. Before the winner of Season 11 is announced on Tuesday, December 13, Billy will sing with Kelly Clarkson her version of “It’s Quiet Uptown” from the Hamilton Mixtape.
Before The Voice Live Finale, Billy wrote: “So happy to be ending this special journey with a song that sums up exactly how I feel about my time on @NBCTheVoice.” The song is a tearjerker. (The last time Kelly Clarkson performed on a live talent show was during the American Idol series finale when she sang Piece By Piece, and had the whole country in tears.)
Here are the opening lyrics of “It’s Quiet Uptown”:
There are moments that the words don’t reach
There is suffering too terrible to name
You hold your child as tight as you can
Then push away the unimaginable
The moments when you’re in so deep
Feels easier to just swim down
And so they move uptown
And learn to live with the unimaginable
So happy to be ending this special journey with a song that sums up exactly how I feel about my time on @NBCTheVoice
