President-elect Donald Trump doesn’t care for lots of things. Just check his Twitter feed for evidence. The media, the way China values its currency, Ted Cruz, and windy days are all on Trump’s long naughty list. But Mr. Trump evidently adores Pakistan, according to a readout of the conversation he had with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “Pakistanis,” Trump told the Prime Minister, “are one of the most intelligent people.”
But Trump was just getting started in his effusive praise for both Prime Minister Sharif and Pakistan’s people. According to the report, Trump said: “Please convey to the Pakistani people that they are amazing and all Pakistanis I have known are exceptional people.” He commended Sharif too, on his own accomplishments: “You are doing very good work which is visible in every way,” Trump said. Sharif, of course, invited Trump for a visit. Trump responded that he would “love to come to a fantastic country, fantastic place of fantastic people.”
Pakistan govt released an actual readout of Trump’s call with PM Sharif, and it’s…well, read it. https://t.co/KbYjJ8yOi7 pic.twitter.com/3N23lnOo7Y
