On Season 11 of The Voice, the popular talent show’s new coach Miley Cyrus taps Rock and Rock Hall of Famer Joan Jett to help mentor Team Miley. While coaching the singers to prepare for the first Battles round on The Voice, Miley and Joan Jett voice their admiration of each other. That’s nothing new to these two. When Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015, Miley delivered a speech which started: “I’m going to start off this induction with the first time I wanted to have sex with Joan Jett.” Miley is referring to the time (in 2011) when she performed with Joan Jett on Oprah and they smoked pot in a bathroom together after the show.
Joan Jett says of Miley: “I think she’s finding her way and trying to come out of what she started as. And I think it’s absolutely valid — you go this way and you go that way and you try to find a center. She’s being bold about it, and I admire that sort of bravery.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
