The TV movie Girl in the Box is based on the true story of the abduction and imprisonment of Colleen Stan. Stan was 20 years old, hitchhiking from Oregon to California in 1977 when she was abducted by a young married couple, Cameron (Zane Holtz) and Janice Hooker (Zelda Williams). For seven years, the Hookers held Stan captive and tortured her. She was kept in a coffin-like box under their bed. Janice agreed to have her husband keep Colleen, whom he renamed Kay, as an S&M slave so she wouldn’t have to endure the pain herself.
[The District Attorney who prosecuted Cameron Hooker wrote the book ‘Perfect Victim: The True Story of the Girl in the Box‘]
Colleen Stan is portrayed by Addison Timlin. She’s known for her roles on Zero Hour (Rachel Lewis), Californication (Sasha Bingham) and Cashmere Mafia (Emily Draper). Timlin is also recognized for her roles in the films That Awkward Moment (Alana), Stand Up Guys (Alex), and Derailed (Clive Owen’s daughter Amy Schine), among others. Girl in the Box will premiere on Lifetime on Saturday, September 10 at 8pm.
