President Obama’s former chief speechwriter is Jon Favreau. This Jon Favreau did not make Elf, nor did he command any multi-million dollar superhero narratives — unless you include Obama’s recent popularity numbers. (Then this less famous Jon Favreau has a case.) Like his more famous namesake, speechwriter Favreau is in the business of vanquishing evildoers. In his case, this means hitting back against the tireless forces mining Hillary Clinton’s email to try to turn up a scandal. There isn’t one, evidence (lots of it) seems to suggest. There is no “pay to play” to be found. People ask for favors — that’s the way things work — but there is no example of favors being illicitly bestowed.
Billionaire Mark Cuban has been saying this in Clinton’s defense at every opportunity. Over Labor Day weekend Cuban retweeted (to his 5.44 million followers) Favreau’s tweet about the Clinton email “scandal.” Favreau is urging people to read Mother Jones‘s examination called 14 Excerpts from the Report on Hillary Clinton’s Email. Cuban simply says Read This Article, implying it speaks for itself. He’s retweeting Favreau, who admits the article won’t change some people’s minds, but who urges open-minded people to please read.
