GoPro’s sleek new Karma drone takes another step toward putting this top-tier tech into the hands — and over the heads — of everyone. The Karma, a badass looking quadcopter, is foldable and will fit into nearly any backpack. This combined with the fact that it’s also at a point where it fits a lot more wallets, the Karma looks to be a category crusher for GoPro. The Karma is controlled via gaming controller and touchscreen. It’s being sold as a stabilization system, adding stability however you use your GoPro — handheld, mounted, or in the air. But obviously the drone aspect of the Karma is the “killer” in “killer app” here.
GoPro also unveiled new cameras — the GoPro all-new Hero5 Black ($399), said to be the easiest and most powerful GoPro yet, and the Hero5 Session. The Karma system will list for $799 by itself and you can bundle it with the Hero5 Session for $999. Early October and you can start flying.
