On the second week of Dancing with the Stars, Season 23, the celebs and their pro partners will perform to TV theme songs. Some of the choices make sense – Marilu Henner will perform a foxtrot to the Taxi song; Maureen McCormick will perform a quickstep to The Brady Bunch Show song; and Jana Kramer will do a tango to the One Tree Hill song “I Don’t Want to Be.” But how do you choose a song for an Olympic athlete? And one who was rushed on stage by anti-Lochte protestors.
It’s difficult to say exactly how the DWTS producers decided on the choice of Ryan Lochte and his partner Cheryl Burke. They’re doing a quickstep to The Muppet Show theme song. Part of the lyrics include these lines: “Why do we always come here, I guess we’ll never know, It’s like a kind of torture, To have to watch the show.” During rehearsals, Lochte posted a video of himself. He says, “Just finished our second rehearsal for quickstep and I am beat.” He pulls the camera away a bit and adds, “Look at this (the sweat on his shirt),” and says, “I am toast.” Dancing is apparently at least as tough as Olympic competition. Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
