Barbara Walters, the 86-year-old television journalist and personality, is hosting a special show about her TV talk show, The View. (Walters is a co-creator and co-executive producer.) She’ll take a look back at the history of the show, reveal some juicy behind-the-scenes stories, and share some of her personal, favorite memories of her time hosting the show. The special about The View airs Tuesday, August 23 at 10pm on ABC.
If you find Walters herself fascinating, but not The View, pick up a copy of her 1970 book How to Talk With Practically Anybody About Practically Anything. In 1972, The New York Times wrote that Walters “understands and is basically sympathetic to the needs and anxieties of others” and that the book “is a grateful testament to the discovery that her world functions in a fairly rational and unthreatening manner.”
