On the Bar Rescue episode ‘12 Beers a Slave,’ Jon Taffer travels to Las Vegas and meets with Brad Stegman, the owner of City Bar. In 2015, Stegman left his corporate job with a casino to open City Bar. It was a big bet. Stegman’s idea was to run a traditional, neighborhood tavern. What he realized was if there wasn’t an event happening at the bar, “we could literally do zero sales.” So Stegman started to depend on his bartenders to create their own events. One of the bartenders introduced “fetish nights” where people whip each other, among other things. As the promo for the episode reports: “Desperate to improve business, Brad has allowed his bartenders to promote sordid events better suited for strip clubs.”

When Stegman does recon work with Taffer (watching the bar via a survelliance camera in Taffer’s car), Stegman becomes livid when he sees what’s happening in his bar. Taffer tells Stegman he’ll help him but as the owner of the bar, Stegman’s got to go in there and put a stop to it. Stegman runs into the bar, “becomes incensed” and starts pulling a S&M cross-like structure out of the bar. Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 9pm on SPIKE.
