On My Big Fat Fabulous Life episode “Extra Fabulous: Fat Jokes,” Whitney Thore approaches stand-up comedian Kerryn Feehan after hearing Feehan make jokes about fat people. Thore explains to Feehan that she’s had to unequate thinness with happiness. Feehan replies: “For someone who says she’s the happiest she’s ever been, you sure do cry a lot.” Thore took that as a personal attack and labeled it “so dumb.” Feehan goes on to tell Thore that “I don’t really buy what you’re selling.” (Being happy with being fat.)
After the show first aired, Feehan answered questions on Reddit. When asked if her own addiction (alcoholism) helped Feehan identify Thore’s denial of her food addition, Feehan said she did her research. She watched previous episodes of the show where Thore “participated in what she refers to as ‘PLT aka Parking Lot Time’ where after an emotional outburst she goes to a drive thru and eats an enormous amount of food in her car alone. In my opinion this was treating a binge eating disorder very lightly.” My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
