Calidonia takes its name from what the Ancient Romans called Scotland — and that’s the only thing old about this fresh music duo whose talent seems boundless. Unless you count old souls, which Graeme and Danny seem to possess. How else can they inhabit the works of so many powerful artists with such ease? The Calidonia YouTube channel features the duo doing tunes ranging from Cyndi Lauper to Drake to Adele to Bill Withers (it’s a real beauty, that last one).
Sometimes they do them all at once — as in the mashup below. Calidonia has been picked up by Ne-Yo’s Compound Entertainment, whose roster includes Adrienne Bailon and Candice RNB. When they’re not strumming in homage to the greats, the Scottish duo makes its own malt. They’re pretty good at sharing too, having won credit as songwriters on Justin Bieber‘s smash hit “Believe.” Calidonia keeps making great new things out of very deep roots, like their name promises.
