In Season 4 of Devious Maids, young Dani Mercado (Sol Rodriguez) visits who she thinks is her cousin Carmen Luna (Rosalyn Sanchez) in Los Angeles. But Carmen is really Dani’s mother — she gave up Dani for adoption when she was born (to Carmen’s cousin Josefina Mercado). When Dani spirals out of control in LA — boys, drugs, crashing cars — Dani’s adoptive mother Josefina will appear on the scene and try to bring her back to Puerto Rico.
Josefina is portrayed by Elizabeth Rodríguez. She is known for her roles on 50 Cent’s TV series Power (Paz), Fear the Walking Dead (Liza Ortiz), Grimm (Agent Chavez), Orange Is the New Black (Aleida Diaz), and All My Children (with Devious Maids‘ Susan Lucci as Carmen “Sugar” Morales), among others. Rodriguez is also recognized for her roles in the 2014 film The Drop (Detective Romsey), James Gandolfini’s last film. Devious Maids airs Mondays at 9pm on Lifetime.
