In the one-hour documentary Transgender Kids Camp, a group of four transgender girls who were assigned male at birth go to a summer camp where they can feel free to be themselves. The camp is a haven for children where they can have fun and not worry about societal judgment.

One of the most popular camps for transgender and gender-variant kids is Camp Aranu’tiq. Owned and operated by Harbor Camps since 2009, Camp Aranu’tiq has two camp locations — one in New Hampshire and one in Southern California. Camp sessions are available for ages 8-15, ages 16-18, and for entire families. A two-night stay at the Southern California location in April is $175 per person. A three-night stay over Labor Day at the New Hampshire camp is $225 per adult, $200 per child (2-17). Transgender Kids Camp will premiere on TLC on June 1 at 9pm.
