On the Braxton Family Values episode “You Gotta Get Pelvic to Pelvic!,” Toni tells Tamar that she plans to get new backup singers. That means letting go of her two sisters Trina and Towanda. “I think the girls are good, but I think it’s time for a change,” says the seven-time Grammy-winning singer. “They’re been helping me for a long time, maybe helping me longer than they should have been helping me.” Toni also says she thinks it’s time for them to do their own thing. “Maybe it’s been keeping them from doing their own ventures, things they want to do for themselves.”
Tamar tries to reassure Toni about her decision, “Look, not everyone can be a background singer forever.” As Tamar says, “Trina and Towanda have been singing for Toni for like 13,000 years for now. It’s become second nature to them. I don’t know how they’re going to take the news of being let go by Toni Braxton.” Get ready. Braxton Family Values airs Thursdays at 9pm on WEtv.
