Actress Emma Roberts (Scream Queens, American Horror Story) plays a high school senior named Vee in the mystery/thriller Nerve. The vulnerable teen gets involved in Nerve, an online game of truth of dare without the truth part. Watchers pay to watch, players play to win. Looking for a way to live a little, to leave her comfort zone, Roberts’ character hits the play button. She finds the dares thrilling at first. The dares start off innocent enough, “kiss a stranger for five seconds.” The watchers like what they see and pair up Roberts’ character with the young man she kissed, Ian (Dave Franco).
The more dares they complete, the more famous the couple becomes. But then they realize that they’re playing to survive. “The only way out is to win,” says Ian. Nerve, which is based on the Jeanne Ryan novel, will be released on July 27.
