It’s nice when NBA players mix it up with kids and share the game. It’s like playing with real live superheroes for the young players — an experience they’ll never forget. In one sunny exhibition game, Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond made sure one kid would never forget his time on the court with the Motor City 7-footer. Watch below as Drummond smacks the kid’s layup into the bleachers with a sidearm swat.
Part of life, kids, is learning it doesn’t always go the way you want. But many think Drummond should have given the kid the lane. Drummond makes about $20 million a year as a “rim protector” in the NBA — maybe that’s just not a role you can easily snap out of. Even when the competition is 12 years old. There is a rumor floating around that on the previous play the kid had mentioned Drummond’s free throw percentage. You just don’t taunt a big man like that. Especially one who shot 35.5% from the free throw line this season, the worst in free throw shooting season in NBA history.
