Queen Bey has bestowed upon the good people of Flint, Michigan a check for $82,234. The check came from Parkwood Entertainment, the management company Beyonce founded, and the money will be used to help Flint manage the devastating water crisis that has plagued the community. The money really comes from Beyonce fans, who opted to make a contribution to help Flint when they purchased tickets for Beyonce’s Formation Tour.
The charitable arm of the Beyonce empire is called BeyGood, which worked in partnership with the United Way. Beyonce’s good works align her with celebrities like Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Mark Wahlberg, Eminem and others who have tried to help turn around the environmental mess that is Flint’s compromised water system. Beyonce has been good at taking lemons lately and making lemonade, something Flint is fighting hard to do.
A BIG thanks to @beyonce‘s @BeyGood for all their support. This donation goes to our #FlintWaterFund for residents pic.twitter.com/aqRYtAiFKd
