In the NCIS: New Orleans episode “Help Wanted,” while Brody (Zoe McLellan) is tracking a lead in the General leak case in DC, the rest of the team is investigating an explosion in one of the most historic restaurants in the French Quarter. There, they’re treated to the sound of a street musician with a guitar.
The musician is Gary Clark, Jr.. He was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where his career was launched at Antone’s (where Stevie Ray Vaughan was discovered). Rolling Stone named Clark “Best Young Gun” in its April 2011 issue. Since then, he’s recorded with Sheryl Crow (The Jackson 5 song “I Want You Back” on her 100 Miles from Memphis album) and the Foo Fighters (“What Did I Do? / God as My Witness” on their Sonic Highway album, among other collaborations. Clark’s most recent album is The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. On a personal note, Clark’s engaged to Australian model Nicole Trunfio, mother of his one-year-old son Zion. NCIS: New Orleans airs Tuesdays at 9pm on CBS.
