August is fast approaching, and with it, Gamescom – Europe’s answer to America’s E3. It’s the go-to video game expo for anyone looking to catch up on the latest video game releases, from the upcoming games to the latest tech. Whether you’re going to get your hands on the latest Battlefield game or you’re looking to pick up the latest VR headset for your Android phone, the things you’re going to need are roughly the same.
First things first, bring a comfortable pair of shoes – there is a lot more walking than you can possibly imagine at these events. Next, you’re going to want to bring a handheld games console, or if you’re after playing on your phone, VR headset and a portable battery so you can keep your devices topped up. It’s also worth noting that a lot of the people showing off their games are bringing demos they can give away, so keep your bag handy! The last thing you’ll need is the often overlooked EHIC – as with any trip to the continent, a quick look into getting a European Health Card can mean the difference between free emergency healthcare and the most expensive trip of your life! As long as you have all this with you when you take to Cologne, you’re in for a whale of a time! Gamescom runs August 17-21.
