Vice President Joe Biden didn’t just cheat in college, he cheated the American people. At least that’s how an emotional Biden described his inability to run for president after his son Beau’s tragic death. In refusing to run, Biden deprived the American people of “the best president” they could have hoped for. “I planned on running. It’s an awful thing to say,” Biden told Good Morning America. “I think I would’ve been the best president.” Then he backed Hillary Clinton. With friends like these… Ms. Clinton must be thinking.
Others believe what Biden asserts, too — that his left-leaning credentials, tacit Obama approval, bipartisan success record and relative lack of scandal would be a perfect antidote to Trump. Biden might have been a galvanizing figure for a Democratic Party currently riven with Sanders-Clinton strife. In Joe Biden’s mind, Paul Simon’s famous lyrics about Joe DiMaggio must sound like this: “Where have you gone, Joe [Biden], a nation turns its lonely eyes to you.” Woo woo woo.
