The tale takes on a new visual existence when it hits theaters in May, with Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin. But Moyes’ tale of opposites — that old trope reworked beautifully — is already visually imprinted on the minds of the more than 3 million people who read her 2012 novel. As the book promo puts it: “What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?” Who can help but want to find out?
