On the Madam Secretary episode “On the Clock,” while Henry (Tim Daly) tries to help the NSA track down a terrorist, Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) tries to negotiate a peace agreement between the prime ministers of India and Pakistan. But things turn south a Pakistani plane with a nuclear warhead crashes in India. Meanwhile, Elizabeth gets grilled by the press including real-life TV personality Jane Pauley.
Jane Pauley was the co-host of The Today Show with Tom Brokaw and later Bryant Gumbel for 13 years. After that she was co-host of Dateline NBC for 12 years. In 2004, she announced her diagnosis of bipolar disorder. That same year, Pauley landed her own syndicated daytime talk show, The Jane Pauley Show, and published her autobiography Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue. Pauley is married to Garry Trudeau, author/cartoonist of Doonesbury. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 8pm on CBS.
