Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have given a lot of thought to the end of the road. Supernatural, renewed for season 12, isn’t signing off yet — but fans are delighted that the stars are so aware of the precious cargo they carry. Ackles and Padalecki showed their knowledge and caretaking sensibilities in an interview, talking about what factors will be critical for a satisfactory end to the Supernatural journey.
At first the actors thought it would end in apocalypse, or Butch Cassidy and Sundance style, but now it might be milder, they hope. But the boys will keep on fighting. Padalecki says: “As long as they’re alive, they’re not going to stop fighting.” Padalecki says he revisited a few key scenes that might work for a goodbye. Supernatural fan Raymond Masullo likes Padalecki’s idea, writing on Facebook:
A closing scene featuring Sam & Dean relaxing on the hood of The Baby (’67 Impala for those who don’t know) while looking up at the stars (like that great shot from “Swan Song”) works for me.
