Bjarke Ingels will reveal the model of the new Washington Redskins football stadium on 60 Minutes. The 41-year-old Danish architect tells Morley Safer that “The stadium is designed as much for the tailgating, like the pre-game, as for the game itself.” The new stadium, which will cost up to $1 billion to build, will include a moat for tailgating kayakers.
The cost of building a new stadium is upsetting some taxpayers. And then there’s the history of the football team’s name that continues to be a sore spot. KR168146 wrote in the 60 Minutes comments section: “There should be no funding of, tax breaks for, or other forms of support for the stadium until the team changes its name.” 60 Minutes airs Sunday at 7:30pm on CBS.
