Canada’s new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be interviewed by Lara Logan on one of the America’s most watched TV news shows, 60 Minutes. The 44-year-old son of former PM Pierre Trudeau will discuss his past (jobs as snowboarding instructor, nightclub bouncer), the present (allowing hundreds of thousands of refugees into the country), and the future.
Trudeau won’t shy away from giving Americans advice, either. Just days before his State Dinner with President Obama at the White House (March 10), Trudeau suggests that Americans should pay more attention to the world outside of North America. His viewpoint is admired by some but not by all. The voice of Canadian dissent can be heard on the 60 Minutes Facebook page where Canadian Madeleine Prevost writes: “I think he should pay more attention to his own country and he should not speak in our names!!” Fellow Canadian Marilynn Oosterhof agrees and writes: “I have to apologize for our ‘light weight’ PM…Canada takes the “prize” — the booby prize for the light weight.”
