Ben Stein is hard to describe. A conservative economist who worked for Richard Nixon, he’s also a Hollywood contrarian who used to have his own game show — Win Ben Stein’s Money — on Comedy Central. Stein is probably most famous among a certain demographic for his droll appearance as a droning teacher in movie classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Stein surprised again this week by endorsing anyone but Trump (see video below).
Stein, who reportedly said in 2014 that Barack Obama “has a real, strong, hatred of America,” is thinking nevertheless of voting for a Democrat — either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton this time around. He says he went to law school with Hillary and so has always “had a fondness for her,” while he admires Bernie Sanders’ proposal for single-payer healthcare. He and Nixon, he points out, tried to do that too.
