Ben Stein is hard to describe. A conservative economist who worked for Richard Nixon, he’s also a Hollywood contrarian who used to have his own game show — Win Ben Stein’s Money — on Comedy Central. Stein is probably most famous among a certain demographic for his droll appearance as a droning teacher in movie classic, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Stein, who reportedly said in 2014 that Barack Obama “has a real, strong, hatred of America,” is thinking nevertheless of voting for a Democrat — either Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton this time around. He says he went to law school with Hillary and so has always “had a fondness for her,” while he admires Bernie Sanders’ proposal for single-payer healthcare. He and Nixon, he points out, tried to do that too.
